About iSupplyChain

The following Logistical Components are essential within iSupplyChain

      1. Purchase Order Management

      2. Warehouse Operations

      3. Shipment Execution

      4. Freight Service Management

      5. Total Supply Chain Visibility

1.  Purchase Order Management
The Purchase Order or “P.O.” is the master file of information needed to input into the iSupplyChain system. It is a written authorization requesting a vendor to furnish goods to purchaser. It is an offer from the purchaser to buy certain articles. The offer is accepted by the seller when she supplies the requested items. A contract is formed and the seller can expect payment in return for the delivered goods.

This document is paramount because information is extracted from the P.O. and placed in the iSupplyChain system.

The P.O. is the locomotive that kicks off a series of supply chain related activities:

•  Initiating a production in the factory ,

•  Management of production schedules,

•  Quality control,

•  Consolidation in origin warehouse,

•  Freight & delivery at destination.

The P.O. allows us to monitor the milestones of the activities as a result of purchase order creation. The milestones denote committed schedules such as:

Production, Pick-Up, Consolidation and Shipment Schedules

In any situation where the milestones are not achieved, iSupplyChain automatically notifies the user/buyer.

2.  Warehouse Operations : Assortment Pick and Pack

What is an Assortment Pick & Pack?

Pick & Pack is the activity of picking and packing specific SKU’s from the merchandisers. Once received these items are stored within the consolidation warehouse where multiple products are received from various suppliers. This picking and packing activity can be carried out in a number of ways:

By solid carton by SKU basis.

By opening cartons to pick individual items (SKU) and group them with different items in another case.

•  By opening cartons and choosing an inner pack, mixed with other items in another case.

The customer’s Pick Order could either be from a DC or a collection of retail outlets.

3.  Shipment Execution

What is Shipment Execution?

Shipment Execution is the activity of booking the right space with carriers or trucks for the purpose of delivery = Freight Booking.

This activity is usually triggered by the “Confirm Packed” signal from the warehouse management system module.

Booking of equipment (LCL, 20ft or 40ft) is based on the Container Load Plan prepared by the SCS warehouse team.

A shipping label is produced by the system showing the contents and the destination of the shipment either to the DC or to the retail level.

4. Freight Service Management

Monitors the performance of each carrier relating to:

 •  Booking efficiency
 •  Quality of equipment
 •  Pick empty efficiency
 •  Accuracy of equipment

Monitors the shipping performance including:

 •  Punctuality of shipping schedule (ETD, ETA)
 •  Frequency of roll-over
 •  Frequency of detour

Provides shipping analysis such as:

 •  Voyage Analysis
 •  Equipment Analysis
 •  Utilization Analysis
 •  Freight costs analysis by carrier.

5. Total Supply Chain Visibility

What is Total Supply Chain Visibility?

•  It is the visibility of merchandise location, merchandise movements, stock position and Purchase Order Status (such as movements and shipping status) in the iSupplyChain system.

•  Is the system that generates email alerts should there be partial fulfillment of orders or if a milestone is being compromised.

•  Is that which enables information such as Proof-of-Delivery (POD) to be sent to the shipper or buyer electronically.
